Trans Nzoia governor Partrick Khaemba officially launched 20m highmast flood lights in Kitale town to reduce insecurity and promote late night businesses.

There is total of 30 such lights evenly distributed across the County around the town and 25 in remote areas to cover strategic places with huge populations.

The Governor said the project was funded by the County Government and asked residents to take care of the lights. He added that more lights in town will be soon added on the streets after the expansion of some roads.

“I am happy we are doing this at a time just before the investment conference that kicks off from Wednesday. This will help portray a good picture that we are making efforts towards reducing insecurity and creating a conducive business environment to spur economic growth,” said the governor.

He disclosed that the Africa Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to expand the Suam-Kitale road to a dual carriage way and install it with street lights.
